Rosewood London - Grand Luxury Hotel in London

One of London’s newest Grand Luxury Hotel, situated in Midtown Holborn where business meets pleasure

Originally built in 1914, the ultra-luxury Rosewood hotel group spent over £85million sensitively renovating one of London’s most opulent buildings, the Pearl Assurance headquarters, to transform it into London’s newest grand hotel. The renovation lovingly maintains the buildings old grandeur, none more so than in its magnificent seven story staircase – whose original marble lining has been valued at £40million alone. As well as an alluring array of facilites, the hotel has one of the best courtyards in London, with the sanctuary opened up to diners in the summer and boasting a christmas tree and outdoor fire in the winter.

Amenities

Since opnening the Rosewood Hotel has become the focal point of the Holborn 'Midtown' District with its host of amenities. The city wide reknowned Scarfes bar perfectly balances privacy with atmosphere. The striking Holborn Dining room somehow works both as a casual bistro and formal dining room.

Holborn Dining Room

The substantial Holborn Dining Room is one of the grandest art deco restaurants in London. Plush leather upholstery and shining marble floors are garnished with cooper and oak fixtures creating a relaxed and informal space. The kitchen is run by the former head chef of the famous Ivy club and serves British comfort foods with a modern European twist.

The Mirror Room

At the heart of the hotel, the strikingly designed Mirror room hosts the hotels breakfast, afternoon tea and light bite offerings. Taking cues from a jewel box, the dining rooms walls and ceilings are extensively decorated with mirrors.

Scarfes Bar

Scarfes Bar is named after the much heralded artist Gerald Scarfe whose art adorns the walls. The impressive space I filled with imposing chandeliers, fascinating curiosities, open fire places and a whole host of nooks and crannies for those seeking privacy. Unlike many hotel bars in London, Scarfes’ has an easy going atmosphere and informal dress code.

No new 5 star hotel in London would be complete without a spa, and the Rosewood is no different. Lined with bamboo walls and wooden floors, the spa features a relaxation area that leads to a number of treatment rooms and a slate lined rain forest shower. Both ladies and men’s changing rooms feature a sauna and steam room.

Bluebird's Favourite Feature:

Undoubtedly one of the best new bars to open in London in 2013, Scarfes Bar, which is named after the much heralded artist Gerald Scarfe whose art adorns the walls. The impressive space is filled with imposing chandeliers, fascinating curiosities, open fire places and a whole host of nooks and crannies for those seeking privacy. Unlike many hotel bars in London, Scarfes’ has an easy going atmosphere and informal dress code, in fact in the words of Mr Scarfe the bar is like a "private art gallery where people will be able to have a drink and relax.”
