The Corinthia - Luxury hotel in London

The opening of the luxury Corinthia Hotel London in 2011 sent quivers down the boots of its competitors. Rightly too, this London hotel really can boast to have a bit of everything.

Opened in 2011, the Corinthia London is housed in a majestic building that was previously occupied by the Ministry of Defence. The grand building is packed to the rafters with amenities; boasting two world class restaurants, an elegant outdoor courtyard, the Bassoon piano bar, the number one voted spa in London and some of the largest guest rooms to boot.

Upon entry, the hotel immediately imparts a grandiose feel upon every guest. The reception desks are setback from a huge copper carving of the river Thames and hanging from the lobby's roof is Chafik Gasmi's iconic 'Full Moon' chandelier - handcrafted from one thousand crystal baubles it reflects light from the hotels domed roof in every direction. The epic touches are continued throughout the hotel, from the spiral staircase in the Penthouse Suite, to the Grand Central Terminal styled roof in Massimo’s restaurant. Truly every moment from check in to check out at the Corinthia London Hotel is a moment to savour.

Amenities

Being a grand hotel, the Corinthia London boasts some of the best amenities of any luxury hotel in London. Every guest is spoilt for choice by two world class restaurants, a relaxed lobby and courtyard, a piano bar and finally a spa spanning four floors.

The Lobby Lounge

Filled with light dancing off a spectacular Baccarat chandelier the lobby lounge offers casual dining and eating all day in the utmost comfort.

The Courtyard

The tree lined courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco afternoon tea or, better still, a cigar. It's open fires and warm atmosphere makes it cosy all year round.

The Northall Restaurant & Bar

A grand a sophisticated venue that is bound to impress any guest, the Northall serves world class British cuisine produced from fresh and seasonal ingredients. With a grand restaurant comes a grand bar which despite its beauty is far from snobbish. The British theme is continued; even the house drinks are sourced from London.

Massimo Restaurant & Oyster Bar

The beautiful room that houses Massimo's seems to take inspiration form the oyster bar at Grand Central Terminal in New York. Its vaulted roof and art deco finishes makes for a timeless feel, which is complemented by live jazz on Mondays. The food isn't bad too, cutting edge Italian cuisine is served – a particular highlight is Massimo’s Italian take on sushi.

Bassoon Bar

One of our concierge services favourite speak easy bars. The Bassoon bar is a charming place where the grand piano is actually moulded into the bar creating an intimate atmosphere with a sense of occasion. Famous acts often preform intimate sets in the venue.

ESPA Life at Corinthia - Spa & Swimming Pool

Spread over four floors the Corinthia's spa is the largest spa in any London hotel. The huge silver steel lined 25m pool begs guests to dive in. The thermal floor meanwhile features steam rooms, a vitality pool, ice showers and, what is described as, an amphitheatre sauna. Of course private treatments of almost any kind imaginable are available, provided by world renowned therapists.

Group Layout Options

The Corinthia hotel was designed from the ground up when it comes to the security and privacy of groups. Each floor can be exclusively sealed off to house an entourage of up 30 guests. Alternatively for smaller groups the hallways can be partitioned to allow only guests with the correct key pass into the area. There is also plenty of event space too ranging from small boardroom to the grand ballroom.

Bluebird's Favourite Feature:

With such an abounding array of assets our concierge service found it almost impossible to pick out a favourite feature from the Corinthia luxury hotel.

Never the less, the Royal penthouse must get the acclaim with its 465sqm of more than just a piece of heaven. From its crystal bound spiral staircase that feels like it has come from a fairy-tale, the walk-in wine cellar that should come with a map, its bathtub that you could dive into (not recommended) and THAT river front roof terrace, a stay here will make anyone feel out of this world.
